Overview:
The Social Research Unit (formerly SERIO) has undertaken a crucial role in the evaluation of Pause Plymouth, a part of the Pause Programme dedicated to supporting women facing recurrent care proceedings. This innovative model, funded by Plymouth City Council, focuses on empowering women to break destructive cycles, regain control of their lives, and build a positive future.
Objectives for the project:
Provide long-term, intensive, and bespoke support for women in recurrent care proceedings
Contribute to a reduction in the number of children brought into care
The Social Research Unit’s evaluation approach:
Commissioned in a three-year contract to deliver a comprehensive evaluation
Utilised a relationship-based and trauma-informed approach in the Pause Plymouth project
Gathered qualitative evidence to understand participant experiences, staff perspectives, and system engagement and impact

In-depth insights into the experiences of women participating in the Pause Programme
Understanding the impact of funding through a Social Outcomes Partnership
