Overview:

The Social Research Unit (formerly SERIO) took on the role of the evaluation partner for Plymouth's local WorkFit project, a collaborative effort between Pluss CIC and Livewell Southwest. This innovative project introduces a fast-track, early intervention model of support for individuals grappling with mental health and/or musculoskeletal conditions and are at risk of, or entering sickness absence. The integrated model employed by the project aims to enhance health, well-being, and employment outcomes, providing holistic support tailored to each individual.

Objectives for the project:

  • Deliver a fast-track, early intervention model of support for mental health and musculoskeletal conditions

  • Improve health, well-being, and employment outcomes for participants

  • Create a holistic package of support for each individual in the WorkFit initiative

The Social Research Unit’s evaluation approach:

  • The Social Research Unit was appointed as the lead evaluation partner, adopting a mixed methods approach

  • Focus on delivering a robust and comprehensive evaluation of the WorkFit initiative

  • Integration of qualitative and quantitative methods to capture a holistic view of the project's impact

Outcomes:

  • In-depth understanding of the impact of the WorkFit initiative on participants

  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of the fast-track, early intervention model

  • Insights into the holistic support provided and its contribution to health, well-being, and employment outcomes
